Concluding Colombia

Now we are on the flight to Stockholm after a long journey with more movies than sleep over the Atlantic. Still, flights are such a walk in the park with the girls in their current age compared with a few years back.

Since my last post from Santa Marta we went to Villa de Leyva, 4 hrs drive from Bogota, which is a supercute (and very touristy) little town with cobblestone streets, colonial houses and great hiking. As 3/5 of the family prefers watching a mobile phone than climbing a mountain, we took it rather chill however. What the girls might remember most from this destination though, might be Hibiscus and Flora - the dogs we almost adopted who followed us everywhere.

Then we had one last night in Bogotá, trying to squeeze out the last shopping, street food and fruit juices from this trip. I am incredibly happy with my one liter termos from the Colombian equivalent to Lidl, 5 €, exactly the same as all street venders have. All future soccer fika and loppis occasions are now safe.

It is with mixed feelings we return home. We were lucky to have home exchange every single night, which made this trip super smooth (viva fully equipped kitchens, several bathrooms and washing machines.) We have only seen a small part of this massive beautiful country, and definitely want to come back. I will miss all political discussions with taxi drivers, the super friendly people, the music everywhere - and spending so much time together the whole family. Time to start planning for the next trip…
